Olbia, 5 October 2012 – Current FIA World Rally Champions Sébastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena (Citroën DS3 WRC) lead the Entry List of Rally Italia Sardegna 2012 – the penultimate round of the WRC counting also for the FIA Production-car World Rally Championship. The event – organized by the Automobile Club d’Italia with the fundamental help of Regione Sardegna (the local government) – will take place in the North of Sardinia from 18 to 21 October. The Entry List for the event has been published today with 43 crews having entered the event. The Entry List features twelve World Rally Cars, six Super 2000 cars, twelve Group N cars – with all the best drivers entered in the PWRC. Fifteen Italian crews will contest the event – including six from Sardinia – and twenty nationalities are represented. These are the numbers of a very exciting event with all the best rally drivers in the world entered and with the big Citroën and Ford teams ready to fight for glory. Number one in the list is eight-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb with team mate Mikko Hirvonen driving the other official Citroën DS3 WRC. Alongside the two official cars, another DS3 WRC will contest the event and it will be driven by Belgian rising star Thierry Neuville representing the Qatar World Rally Team. Rally Italia Sardegna 2009 winner Jari-Matti Latvala and Norway’s Petter Solberg – the first ever driver to win the Olbia based event in 2004 on a Subaru Impreza WRC – will drive the two Ford World Rally Team official Ford Fiestas WRC entered in the event. Four other Ford Fiestas WRC will join the fight, driven by Adapta World Rally Team’s young Norwegian Mads Østberg and Eastern drivers Evgeny Novikov, Ott Tänak and Martin Prokop. MINI will tackle the event with Aussie driver Chris Atkinson and Brazil’s Paulo Nobre on their Motorsport Italia-run MINI Countryman John Cooper Works WRC. Local hero Luca Pedersoli will drive a private entered Citroën DS3 WRC. Volkswagen Motorsport’s drivers Sébastien Ogier and Andreas Mikkelsen will be behind the wheel of the two Škoda Fabias S2000 entered by the German Manufacturer. Rally Italia Sardegna will see a fierce battle for the PWRC title between current leader Benito Guerra and team mate Michal Kościuszko. However, the two Ralliart Italia drivers – entered with identical Mitsubishi Lancers Evo X – will have to watch their backs as Argentina’s Marco Ligato, Peruvian driver Nicolas Fuchs and local drivers Gianluca Linari and Lorenzo Bertelli – all on Subaru Imprezas – will not easily give up the fight. Other entries include Sardinian driver Giuseppe Dettori – who will contest his home event on a Škoda Fabia Super 2000 - Giacomo Costenaro and Mauro Spagolla with Peugeots and three Mitsubishis driven by Italian drivers Maurizio Angrisani, Giovanni Manfrinato and Francesco Marrone. Carlo Covi on Subaru Impreza, Davide Catania on a Citroën DS3 R3, Maurizio Pusceddu (Citroën C2) and Raffaele Donadio on a Fiat 500 will also contest the event.
