Porto Cervo, 21 ottobre 2012 - Mikko Hirvonen e Jarmo Lehtinen, Citroën DS3 WRC, clinched their first win at Rally Italia Sardegna 2012 - the penultimate round of the World Rally Championship - an event organized by the Automobile Club d´Italia with the support of Regione Sardegna. After finishing the last full day of competition with a confortable lead, the Finn only had to hold on tight to the position and safely cruise through the remaining 16kms of today´s itinerary to score his maiden victory for the Citroën World Rally Team. Evgeny Novikov finished in second position - his second podium of the year - whilst young Estonian Ott Tänak claimed the first podium of his career by finishing the event in third.
The last day of competition at Rally Italia Sardegna was marked by the performance of Norwegian drivers Mads Østberg, who won the first run through the Gallura stage this morning, and Petter Solberg who took the three points for the Power Stage win.
After an unlucky start on Friday, Østberg finished the event in fourth. The battle for fifth place was fierce between Sébastien Ogier (Škoda Fabia Super 2000) and MINI driver Chris Atkinson.
